Dr. S. Bhagavantam was the chief guest to the sixth convocation at IIT Madras. He was a well-known visionary scientist, administrator and architect of defense research. Prior to the proceedings of the sixth convocation, he visited the laboratories and workshop facilities in the Institute. The photograph was probably taken at the Chemical Engineering Laboratory. This can be ascertained by the fact that Prof. Venkateswarlu is in the photograph.
