Students at Shanti Kunj during Mardi Gras ‘83

Cultural Events , Student Activities

This photo shows two students taking a break at Shanti Kunj during Mardi Gras ‘83. In the background, the image shows other participants taking part in what could be a sketching competition. Traditionally, the Fine Arts events were held at Shanti Kunj. Behind the two students, a Kwality Ice Creams cart is visible behind a tree. Though black and white, the photograph conveys clearly the amount of sunlight on that day.

Mardi Gras, now known as Saarang, was a cultural festival occurring annually for 5 days with dance, music, quiz, debate, sketching, photography, drama, and other competitions. Mardi Gras 1983 took place from 26 to 30 January 1983. From the name that this album was given, this album appears to comprise images from day 2 of Mardi Gras ‘83, meaning that this photograph was taken on 27 January 1983.
