This photograph was taken during IIT Madras’ annual cultural and social fest, Saarang. We know that most of the events were held around the Humanities and Social Sciences Block and its surroundings. It is likely that this photograph was taken at the Central Lecture Theatre (CLT), judging by the seats that are installed in the hall.

In the April 2003 edition of The Fourth Estate, an article talks about how IIT Madras’ Saarang involved around 300 coordinators. The article jokingly points out that some of the other IITs had only 30 coordinators and 15 core members.

We do not know who the persons in the photograph are. We can guess that the individuals in the first row are judges and student coordinators. However, we do not know who the individuals are. If you have any information regarding the same, please reach out to us.
