This photograph was taken at the Student Activities Centre (SAC). The Centre was built to host events including convocations, lectures and also some indoor sports. This convocation was the first to be held at the venue.

Seen in the photograph are Mrs. Sheila Kaul (Union Minister for Education and Culture, left) and Dr. H. V. Hande (Minister of Health, right, in black shirt). Dr. Raja Ramanna (Chairman, Board of Governors of IIT Bombay) is seen in the background (next to a police officer).
