The photograph was taken during the 20th convocation which took place in the Student Activities Centre (SAC) in 1983. A model of SAC, which was newly built, is displayed on a table to the right of the photograph.

Prior to the construction of the Student Activities Centre (SAC), the Open Air Theatre (OAT) was used as a venue for convocations. Rains would cause water to percolate in the OAT, making it difficult to hold the event. The SAC emerged as a solution to this problem.
