Visiting VIPs
Dr. Konrad Seitz (Ambassador, Federal Republic of Germany) visited IIT Madras along with Mr. Hans Klein and other German visitors in order to officially hand over the Siemens 7580-E Computer System to IIT Madras. The computer was gifted to IIT Madras by the West German Government as part of the Indo-German Agreement. The sapling was planted possibly to commemorate the opening of the Computer Sciences Block and to symbolize the Indo-German bond.
In the photograph, a wooden board with details has been placed near the sapling. The writing on the board says: “Dr. Konrad Seitz / Ambassador of FRG / 22nd March 1988”.
