Mr. Hans Klein at IIT Madras, 1988

Mr. Hans Klein visited IIT Madras in order to officially hand over the Siemens 7580-E Computer System to the Institute on behalf of the West German Government. During his visit, he visited the Computer Centre in the Computer Sciences Block to take a look at the functioning of the devices.
Here, Mr. Klein (Minister for Economic Co-operation, Federal Republic of Germany, in brown shirt) is seen standing next to a sapling he planted, possibly to mark the landmark event.
The writing on the stone with the engravings says “Dr. Hans Klein / Federal Minister / West Germany / 22nd March 1988”.
