The chief guest/speaker at IIT Madras’s sixth convocation, which was held on the 2nd of August, 1969, was Dr. S. Bhagavantam, Scientific Advisor to the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. On the day of the event, upon reaching the campus, Dr. S. Bhagavantam was received by Prof. A. Ramachandran, Director of the Institute and Mr. C. V. Sethunathan, Registrar. The chief guest was then presented a guard of honour, a convocation tradition, by the cadets of the N.C.C., which he inspected along with Lt. Col. S. Subramanyam.
