The audience features the first batch of school students, who are dressed in the classic white and navy blue uniform. This uniform, which had been in use since the inception of Central Schools in India in 1963, was changed in 2012-13.
The inauguration ceremony took place outside the main entrance of the Central School building, which is visible in the picture.This entrance, however, is no longer the main entrance to the school. The second entrance was possibly built later in time.
Seated amongst the audience (from the left): Dr. C. D. Deshmukh (Vice-Chancellor of University of Delhi) and Dr. A. L. Mudaliar (Chairman, Board of Governors) in the first row. Mrs. Y. S. Ramaswamy (wearing sunglasses), the wife of Mr. Y. S. Ramaswamy, the Institute's Superintending Engineer, is seated in the second row.
