In the image, a panel member hands out a brochure to Dr. Karl Pfauter (Consul General for South India). The logo on the cover suggests that it was published by the CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research). The CSIR publication may have been distributed at the event because the CSIR sponsored the event or organized the event jointly with IIT. Also seen in the image, in the middle is Mr. V. R. Nedunchezhian (Minister of Education, Madras).
The records show us that Mr. V. R. Nedunchezhian visited IIT Madras on three other occasions at least: for the inauguration of the Sequential Summer School in Mechanical Engineering (May 1967), launch of the Journal of Mathematics and Physical Sciences (24th November 1967) and the eleventh convocation ceremony (9th September 1974).
