This photograph was taken during IIT Madras’ annual cultural fest Saarang. The fest featured several contests such as Western Music, Light Music and Antakshari. It is likely that this photograph was taken during one of these events. A report in The Fourth Estate notes that the quality of performances was high, with groups from Chennai dominating the Western Music contests.
