This event could be one of the solo music events that took place during Saarang. There were also group events in Light Music and Western Music. After a preliminary round, selected participants would have a final round where winners would be chosen.

However, this event could be one of several conducted annually by IIT Madras during their cultural festival Saarang which, in 2005, included Music, Dance, Quiz, Debate, Antakshari, Fine Arts, Extempore, Radio Play, Crossie, Semi Classical Vocals, Potpourri, Creative Writing (Play Writing) and Informals, according to that year’s schedule of events.
