In this photograph, a participant sings during a music competition accompanied by a pianist. After a preliminary round, selected participants would have a final round where winners would be chosen.

The event taking place in this photograph was one of several conducted annually by IIT Madras during their cultural festival Saarang. In 2005, Saarang was held from 21 to 26 January and this photograph is from one of those 6 days.
