Prof. R. G. Narayanamurthy was the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the President of the Staff Club during the academic year (1965). Also seen on stage are Mrs. Shanthi Sengupto (wife of Prof. B Sengupto), Mr. Venkatraman (Minister of Industries, Madras Government), and Prof. B. Sengupto (first Director of the Institute).
The Staff Club observed celebrations of Annual Day, Annual tournament and other competitions every year. During the following year (1966-67) a competition was conducted in light and classical music. Several developments were observed in the following years at the Staff Club. For instance, in the year 1966-67 membership cards for the Staff Club were introduced. Also during the same year a radio was purchased by the club. Every year the reading room continued to get a number of dailies and magazines (according to the Annual Report of 1966-67). Today, the Staff Club still conducts events such as the Annual Day and Annual Tournament, as well as programmes for Pongal, events for children, and trips or excursions for the faculty and staff members. The Club is also engaged in milk distribution for the campus residents, as well as facilitating satellite television connection for its members.
