Dance performance during the inauguration of the Staff Club

Dance performances, music performances, films and dramas were regularly showcased at the staff club for its members. The following year (1966), the club became a member of the South India Bridge Association (According to the Annual Report of 1966-67).

By 1967, twenty-five films in different languages were screened and two plays were enacted by members of the club. A magic show and a mono-acting performance was also arranged during the same year (1966-67). Today the club also includes facilities such as a library and indoor recreation (Such as Carrom and Billiards).

Photographer:
C. Gourishankar (1926-2002). After working for several years with the Geological Survey of India and being a geologist by qualification, Gourishankar had later started his career as a photographer. Gourishankar was driven to achieve flawlessness and perfection in everything that he did. Thus his photographs had an impeccable quality that characterised them. Every photograph that Gourishankar took was meticulously planned and shot and printed with diligence and patience. Gourishankar carried out most of the official photography at IIT Madras in the 1960s.
