This photograph was taken at the 26th Convocation ceremony held in 1989. In the photograph, the distinguished guests are standing, possibly for the invocation song which initiates the Convocation ceremony.
In the first row, from the left, are Mr. V. Shanmugam (Registrar) and (third from the left) Prof. B. V. A. Rao (Department of Applied Mechanics). In the first row, third from the right, is Prof. B. Yegnanarayana (Department of Computer Science and Engineering). Also in this photograph, above the stage, the words “26th Convocation ‘89” and the logo of IIT Madras are visible.
