This photograph shows Devraj Sanyal, vocalist of the thrash metal band Brahma performing at IIT Madras’ annual cultural fest Saarang. Brahma was one of the leading bands in India at the time. Formed in 1993, the Mumbai based metallers released a studio album in the 1990s before releasing a few more in the 2000s and 2010s.
Sanyal was known for his powerful vocals and command over the crowds at live performances.
