This photograph was taken during the final night of Saarang. Rock night was held on this day, and the Mumbai based thrash metal band Brahma headlined the show. Brahma was one of the early Indian metal bands to become popular. The band was formed in 1993.
In the Indian metal scene, it is not uncommon for bands to adopt mythological names and themes in their music. The predominant mood of metal band performances is dark and destructive. Thrash metal in particular is a faced paced breed of metal where one can expect aggressive vocals, complex guitar riffs accompanied by explosive drumming and belligerent bass lines. It is a subgenre of heavy metal which evolved in the 1980s. Some of the popular thrash metal bands include Metallica, Slayer and Sepultura.
