This photograph was taken during the visit of Dr. Richard von Weizsäcker to IIT Madras in 1991. Dr. Weizsäcker visited the Institute to receive his degree of Doctor of Science (honoris causa). The ceremony took place at the Student Activities Centre (SAC) but we are not sure where this particular photograph was taken.
As seen in the photograph, Mr. Gerhard Fischer (former Consul General, seen second from right) and Ms. Maneka Gandhi (Union Minister of State [Independent Charge], Environment and Forests, wearing a black sari).
The other persons in the picture are yet to be identified.
