Lighting the flame, 1999
This photograph was taken during the 35th Inter-IIT Sports Meet in IIT Madras. It is likely that this picture was taken during the opening ceremony following the march-past. According to Wikipedia, there were only 6 IITs present in the country at the time. These included IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi and IIT Guwahati.
The Annual Report of IIT Madras, 1999 suggests that IIT Madras won this edition of the Inter-IIT Sports Meet.
