This photograph was taken during the 30th Inter-IIT Sports Meet at IIT Madras. According to the Annual Report of IIT Madras, 1994, the first two days of the event went well following which there were heavy rains that prevented outdoor events from taking place. However, we know that the indoor games went on as planned. This included sports such as basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton and weight lifting. These events were conducted at the Student Activities Centre and the then-old badminton court. It is likely that this photograph was taken during one of these events.
The person to the extreme right has been identified as Prof. P. Srinivasa Rao (Dean of Students) by (Retd.) Prof. Santhakumar Sundaram (Aerospace Engineering Department). The other persons in this photograph are yet to be identified.
