This photograph was taken during the 50th Institute Day of IIT Madras. During the ceremony, several Prizes are given to students, faculty and alumni. IIT Madras also presents its highest award to its alumni, known as the Distinguished Alumnus Award (DAA), during Institute Days.
The photograph shows, in the front row (from the left): Mr. K. V. Rangaswami (chief guest), Prof. M. S. Ananth (Director of IIT Madras, 2001-2011) and Distinguished Alumnus Award recipients Mr. M. G. Parameswaran and Mr. K. Ravi Kumar.
The 50th Institute Day was celebrated on 17 April 2009. The chief guest for the ceremony was Mr. K. V. Rangaswami, an alumnus of IIT Madras, and the Whole-time Director & President (Construction), L&T Ltd. The ceremony was presided over by the then Director of the Institute, Prof. M. S. Ananth who was Director from 2001-2011.
