This photograph was taken during the 50th Institute Day, and shows Prof. M. S. Ananth Director of IIT Madras, 2001-2011) and Dr. Jagadeesh S. Moodera interacting with each other. IIT Madras presents its highest award to alumni, known as the Distinguished Alumnus Award (DAA), during Institute Days.
Dr. Jagadeesh S. Moodera was one of the recipients that year. He graduated from IIT Madras with a PhD in Physics in 1978 and is most recently Senior Research Scientist at the Francis Bitter Magnet Laboratory, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Massachusetts. The 50th Institute Day was celebrated on 17 April 2009.
The chief guest for the ceremony was Mr. K. V. Rangaswami, an alumnus of IIT Madras, and the Whole-time Director & President (Construction), L&T Ltd.
