This photograph was taken during a live music show, Decibels, or Choreo Nite during Saarang 2005. Live music shows, often called Professional Shows or Pro-Shows occurred in the Open Air Theatre (OAT) at night, with artists performing shows such as the Rock Infusion Show, Jazz Show and Classical Music Nite.

Also held in the Open Air Theatre were Choreo Nite, a dance competition for college students, and Decibels, a Western Music band competition.

Earlier known as Mardi Gras, Saarang is the annual cultural festival of IIT Madras. This edition of Saarang took place from 21 to 26 January 2005, with events and competitions for college students like Sports Quiz, Business Quiz, Debate, Antakshari, Light Music, Western Music, etc.
