This photograph was taken during the 50th Institute Day of IIT Madras on 17 April 2009. IIT Madras presents its highest award to alumni, known as the Distinguished Alumnus Award (DAA), during Institute Days. The people on the stage include administrative members and the recipients of the Distinguished Alumnus Award that year.
The chief guest for the ceremony was Mr. K. V. Rangaswami, an alumnus of IIT Madras, and at the time, the Whole-time Director & President (Construction), L&T Ltd. The event was presided over by Prof. M. S. Ananth, the Director of IIT Madras (2001-2011).
