This photograph was taken during the 50th Institute Day of IIT Madras, which took place on 17 April 2009. The chief guest for the ceremony was Mr. K. V. Rangaswami, then the Whole-time Director & President (Construction), L&T Ltd.
Mr. K. V. Rangaswami is also an alumnus of IIT Madras, having completed his B.Tech. in Civil Engineering in 1965. He was part of the second batch of students after IIT Madras was established. Mr. K. V. Rangaswami received a Distinguished Alumnus Award from IIT Madras in 2002 and according to the Alumni and Corporate Relations website, currently holds the position of Executive Vice-President – Buildings and Infrastructure Cluster – ECC Division of Larsen and Toubro Limited.
L&T Ltd. (Larsen & Toubro Ltd.) is an Indian multinational conglomerate company, operating in fields such as engineering, construction, manufacturing, technology, information technology and financial services.
The photograph shows Prof. M. S. Ananth, the then Director of IIT Madras (2001-2011) presenting a memento to Mr. K. V. Rangaswami. Prof. M. S. Ananth has also been a Professor and Head of Department at IIT Madras.
