This photograph was taken during the 50th Institute Day of IIT Madras on 17 April 2009. IIT Madras presents its highest award to alumni, known as the Distinguished Alumnus Award (DAA), during Institute Days.

The chief guest for the ceremony was Mr. K. V. Rangaswami, an alumnus of IIT Madras, and at the time, the Whole-time Director & President (Construction), L&T Ltd. The photograph has captured the audience that day which included IIT Madras alumni and members of the administration.
