The Third Institute Day took place at the Institute’s Building Sciences Block on the IITM campus. The previous Institute Days were celebrated at the hostels and this was the first Institute Day to take place in the academic zone of the Institute. The Institute Day of IIT Madras is a day marked to celebrate the hard work and success of people who have shown excellence in academics as well as extracurricular activities. Hence, it was also called Gymkhana Day or Annual Day. At the event, prizes were distributed to a number of students and faculty members. Dr. P. Subbarayan was the chief guest at the Third Institute Day. Amongst the dignitaries who were present at the event was Dr. A. L. Mudaliar (Chairman, Board of Governors). In the photograph, Dr. A. L.
