The Chief Guest, Dr. P. Subbarayan (Union Minister of Transport and Communication) distributed a number of prizes to students and faculty members at the Third Institute Day. The Institute Day of IIT Madras is a day marked to celebrate the hard work and success of people who have shown excellence in academics as well as extracurricular activities. In the image, Dr. P. Subbarayan hands over a prize to Prof. E. G. Ramachandran who was the first Professor and the first Head of the Department of Metallurgical Engineering, IIT Madras and is considered as the architect of this foremost department in India.
