This photograph was taken during the inauguration of the Hydraulics Laboratory on 3 August 1970. The event has been recorded in an issue of Campastimes. The report notes that Prof. Rouve spoke after the Director’s address. According to the report, he “gave a short history of the build-up and working of the lab”. The photograph was taken outside the Hydraulics Laboratory under a shamiana, where the audience had gathered to witness the event. “Most of them sat staring at a marble stone thinly veiled by a yellow diaphanous fabric”.
