Lionel Paul (Sports Secretary) played tennis, hockey and table tennis. He also participated in track and field events. During his time at IIT Madras he evolved into an outstanding singles player and won the Stanley Cup, conducted by the Loyola College, for inter-collegiate Tennis a number of times. His tennis prowess even allowed him to tuck away a win against the Wimbledon semi-finalist Anand Amritraj one year. Lionel Paul served as General Secretary of the student body (Gymkhana) during the final year of his B. Tech.
