A farewell function was held in honour of Dr. A. L. Mudaliar (first Chairman, Board of Governors) on 30th August 1969. The function commenced at 05:30 pm on that Saturday. Although the venue was initially the Open Air Theatre on the Institute campus, its function was held in the Aero Hangar due to unfavourable weather conditions. The event was presided over by Mr H. V.
