This photograph may have been taken at the newly constructed Computer Sciences Block. It shows Prof. H. N. Mahabala (Computer Science and Engineering Department) apparently talking to a person.

The blackboard to the right has the words “Welcome / To / Mr. Hans Klein” written on it. This photograph was taken during the visit of Mr. Hans Klein (Minister for Economic Co-operation, Federal Republic of Germany) to IIT Madras. During his visit, he took part in the event held to officially hand over the Siemens 7580-E Computer System to IIT Madras. He also visited the Computer Centre where the terminals were kept.
