Dr. Linus Pauling, the American scientist who won the Nobel Prize twice (in Chemistry in 1954 and the Peace Prize in 1962) visited IIT Madras on 18 January 1967 along with his wife Ava Helen Pauling. The signatures of Dr. Linus Pauling and Ava Helen Pauling are found in the visitor’s book which is on display at the Heritage Centre. Baron Dietrich von Mirbach (Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, left) was a German diplomat who was born in 1907. He worked at the German embassy in Cairo (1952-55) and was the German Ambassador to Canada (1970-72). At various points in his career, he worked at the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Bonn and the Joint Export Import Agency.
