The image captures a section of the audience who were present for the valedictory function that was held on 21st December, 1968. A few individuals identified among the audience:  First row from the right - Prof. R. J. H. Bisanz (Chemical Engineering Department), second row third from the left - Prof. Werner Koch (Professor of Physics), third row second from right: Prof. G. Stahl (Mechanical Engineering Department) and seated next to him is Prof. R. G. Narayanamurthi (Mechanical Engineering Department).


In December 1968, IIT Madras conducted, with assistance from the Technical Physics Division of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Trombay, a three-week course in ‘High-Vacuum Technology’. There were 54 participants, drawn from academic institutions, research laboratories and industrial establishments. Dr. H. N. Sethna, Director, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Trombay, delivered the valedictory address for the course.
