Seen in the image is the back of the invitation card to Dr. A. L. Mudaliar’s (first Chairman, Board of Governors) farewell function. The back of the card has details about the order of the programme. The programme started with an invocation and was followed by a welcome address. Next, speeches were given by one member each from the German Consul, Board of Governors and Senate. A student representative also addressed the audience which was followed by an address by Mr. H. V. R. Iengar (Chairman, Board of Governors). Dr. A. L. Mudaliar (first Chairman, Board of Governors) address was the last event of the evening which was to be followed by a vote of thanks.

C. Gourishankar (1926-2002). A geologist by qualification, Gourishankar started his career as a photographer after working for many years with the Geological Survey of India. In everything that he did, Gourishankar strove to achieve flawlessness and impeccable quality. Thus his photography too was characterised by this drive for perfection. Every photograph that Gourishankar took was meticulously planned and shot and printed with diligence and patience. Gourishankar carried out most of the official photography at IIT Madras in the 1960s.
