Invocation ceremony at the 50th Institute Day function, 2009

The invocation takes place during an occasion or ceremony as a song of blessing. The invocation was sung to begin the event. All people in attendance at the event have to remain standing as the invocation is delivered.

IIT Madras presents its highest award to alumni, known as the Distinguished Alumnus Award (DAA), during Institute Days. The people on the stage include administrative members and the recipients of the Distinguished Alumnus Award that year.

The 50th Institute Day was celebrated on 17 April 2009. The chief guest for the ceremony was Mr. K. V. Rangaswami, an alumnus of IIT Madras, and at the time, the Whole-time Director & President (Construction), L&T Ltd.
