The photograph was taken at the Bose-Einstein Guest House. Mr. Klein was the Minister for Economic Co-operation for the Federal Republic of Germany. Mr. Mudaliar was the sixth Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT Madras. He was the son of Dr. A. L. Mudaliar, the first Chairman of the Institute and the younger brother of Prof. A. Ramachandran, the second Director of the Institute.
The photograph was taken on the day that the Siemens 7580-E computer system was handed to IIT Madras by Mr. Klein, representing the Federal Republic of Germany.
