H. E. Theodor Heuss visited the Institute campus in November 1960. During his visit to IIT Madras, H. E. Theodor Heuss visited various parts of the Institute including CLRI and A. C. Tech.

Heuss was the former President of the Federal Republic of Germany. Prime Minister Nehru met him and the Chancellor in 1956. His term as President ended in 1959, around a year before he visited IIT Madras.
