A section of the audience at the NCC Day celebrations, 1965

Administrators , Institute Events , Visiting VIPs

The NCC Day and the inauguration of the NCC building took place on the same day, on 14 December 1965. This has been recorded in the Seventh Annual Number of IIT Madras, 1965-66. The inauguration took place outside the NCC building, while this photograph appears to have been taken in an open ground, where NCC Day was celebrated. It is likely that the location of the photograph is where the Chemplast Cricket ground currently is.

Seen in the photograph, in the front row Prof. B. Sengupto (Director of IIT Madras, second from right) and Commodore Jimmy D. Modi (Director of NCC, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, third from right). The other persons in the photograph are yet to be identified.

An identical photograph can be found in the Central Photographic Section Collection in Album 0004 under the ID: 001/0004/IMG_0185_1
