The audience witnesses the inauguration of IIT Madras' Central School building, 1965

Campus Facilities , Inaugurations , Campus Buildings

The audience features the first batch of school students, who are dressed in the classic white and navy blue uniform. This uniform, which had been in use since the inception of Central Schools in India in 1963, was changed in 2012-13.
The event took place outside the main entrance of the Central School building, which is visible in the picture. This entrance, however, is no longer the main entrance to the school. The second entrance was possibly built later in time.
The name ‘Central School’ was later changed to Kendriya Vidyalaya.

Seen in the picture (from the left): Mr. R. Natarajan (Registrar, IIT Madras) is seated in the first row, wearing sunglasses. Mrs. Y. S. Ramaswamy (wearing sunglasses) is in the second row. Rev. Father L. D. Murphy (Professor of English, Loyola College) is seated further back, behind the unidentified gentleman wearing a turban. Dr. E. G. Ramachandran (Department of Metallurgy) is also in the picture.
