This photograph shows some of the distinguished guests and administrators of IIT Madras during the event.

Gerhard Fischer was a German diplomat, ambassador and humanitarian. He joined the German diplomatic service after the Second World War ended.

Dr. A. L. Mudaliar was the first Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT Madras from 1959 to 1969.

Chidambaram Subramaniam (also known as CS), was an Indian politician and activist. Subramaniam was also present at the inauguration function of the Computer Centre of IIT Madras in 1973. At the time, he had just completed his tenure as Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission (1971-1972).

Prof. Bibhutibhushan Sengupto was the first Director of IIT Madras from 1959 to 1967. He played a pivotal role in the rapid growth that took place during the initial years of the Institute.

C. Gourishankar (1936-2002). A geologist by qualification, Gourishankar started his career as a photographer after working for many years with the Geological Survey of India. In everything that he did, Gourishankar strove to achieve flawlessness and impeccable quality. Thus his photography too was characterised by this drive for perfection. Every photograph that Gourishankar took was meticulously planned and shot and printed with diligence and patience. Gourishankar carried out most of the official photography at IIT Madras in the 1960s.
