This photograph was taken during Dr. Richard von Weizsäcker's visit to IIT Madras in 1991. He visited the Institute in order to receive the degree of Doctor of Science (honoris causa). Dr. Weizsäcker was the President of the Federal Republic of Germany when he visited IIT Madras.
As seen in the photograph, Prof. N. V. C. Swamy (Director, extreme right), Dr. Richard von Weizsäcker (second from right), Mrs. Marianne von Weizsäcker (third from right) and Ms. Maneka Gandhi Union Minister of State [Independent Charge], Environment and Forests, second from left). The other persons in this photograph are yet to be identified.
