There were several music competitions that took place over the 6 days that Saarang was held for in 2005. These events included several in music such as Western Music Solo, Western Music Group, Light Music Solo, Light Music group, Semi Classical Vocals and Antakshari.

From the microphone the participant is singing into, it can be understood that this photograph captured a solo performance. This edition of Saarang was held from 21 to 26 January 2005.
