This photograph was taken during a special convocation held at IIT Madras to confer the degree of Doctor of Science (honoris causa) on Dr. Richard von Weizsäcker.
Dr. Weizsäcker was the President of the Federal Republic of Germany. He visited IIT Madras with his wife Marianne.
As seen in the image, Prof. N. V. C. Swamy (Director, second from right) and Dr. Weizsäcker (fifth from right) and Prof. R. Nagarajan (Head of Computer Science Department, sixth from right). The other persons are yet to be identified.
