This photograph was taken during IIT Madras’ 20th convocation. The Student Activities Centre (SAC) was inaugurated on the same day before the convocation.

Seen in the photograph are, Mr. Giani Zail Singh (President of India and chief guest, second from right), Mr. A. Sivasailam (Chairman, Board of Governors of IIT Madras, third from right), Prof. P. V. Indiresan (Director of IIT Madras, seventh from right wearing convocation robes), Mrs. Sheila Kaul (Union Minister for Education and Culture, eighth from right) and the lady next to her is Mrs. Manjit Kaur, daughter of Mr. Giani Zail Singh. Dr. Raja Ramanna (Chairman, Board of Governors of IIT Bombay) is seen behind Mrs. Manjit Kaur. The rest of the individuals are yet to be identified.
