A section of the audience at the valedictory function held at the end of the Short Term Course in High Vacuum Technology

The image captures a section of the audience who were present at the valedictory function that was held on 21st December, 1968. A few individuals identified among the audience: First row from the left - Prof. R .K. Gupta (Department of Humanities and Social Sciences), Prof. R. G. Narayanamurthy (Department of Mechanical Engineering), First row extreme right - Prof. E. G. Ramachandran (Department of Metallurgical Engineering), Second row from the left - Prof. M.V. C. Sastri (Department of Chemistry), Prof. M. C. Gupta (Department of Mechanical Engineering).


In December 1968, IIT Madras conducted, with assistance from the Technical Physics Division of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Trombay, a three-week course in ‘High-Vacuum Technology’. There were 54 participants, drawn from academic institutions, research laboratories and industrial establishments. Dr. H. N. Sethna, Director, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Trombay, delivered the valedictory address for the course.
