Institute Activities

The Department of Chemical Engineering organised a seminar from 4th-10th February 1968 on ‘Development in Chemical Engineering’, with the objective of receiving recent developments (at that time) in Chemical Engineering which had a bearing on chemical process industries. The chemical process industries broadly include the traditional chemical industries, both organic and inorganic; the petroleum industry; the petrochemical industry, which produces the majority of plastics, synthetic fibers, and synthetic rubber from petroleum and natural gas raw materials; and a series of allied industries in which chemical processing plays a substantial part.

An inauguration function was held on 4th February 1968 during which speeches were made by Prof. Dr. Ing. H. Brauer (visiting prof. from West Germany), Prof. Venkateswarlu (HOD, Chemical Engineering) and Prof. A. Ramachandran (Director, IITM).
