This photograph was taken during the 26th Convocation held on 8 August 1989. The photograph shows a section of the academic procession which is a tradition where all the distinguished guests enter the convocation hall (here, Student Activities Centre or SAC), wearing convocation robes.
The audience stands as the members of the academic procession take their place on the dais. The Academic Procession is always led by the Registrar. In this photograph, Mr. V. Shanmugam (Registrar) leads the procession.
