This photograph was taken during Mardi Gras, 1983. In the photograph, a student with a board hung on him stands as another student writes the words “What do you have today?” on the board. The board appears to have signatures on it. It may have been an announcement or an advertisement that was to be conveyed to the participants.

The famed cultural festival of IIT Madras is now known by the name Saarang. Mardi Gras ‘83 took place over a period of 5 days from 26 to 30 January 1983. Many competitions were held during Mardi Gras including Indian light music, Indian classical Music, music quiz, western music, quiz, drama, fine arts, informal events, photography, and debate.

N. S. Vinodh. After completing an early education in Bangalore, N. S. Vinodh obtained his B. Tech. in Civil Engineering from IIT Madras in 1986. Being the secretary of the Photography Club at IIT Madras during his third year, he was an avid photography enthusiast. He then went on to complete his MBA from IIM, Lucknow, and later spent his career holding senior positions in the field of corporate real estate with leading multinational financial services companies. He continued to pursue his hobby of photography, integrating it with his love of travel and wildlife.
